My name is Aleš Koudela. I am 23 years old. I don’t pay attention to my surroundings because I’m different from the others. Because I also happen to be autistic. I’m detached from what’s around me because sometimes I’m thinking about outer space and about Harry Potter and about Michal. I often interrupt people because I need them to explain something I don’t understand, and I’m too lazy to wait until the other person has finished talking, and also I’m impatient. Strangers think I’m a spoiled brat. I think that’s their opinion. But I don’t agree. I don’t do it on purpose, and I should be able to control myself. I need help with this. I need to stop interrupting people and being completely detached... to devise some sort of a method. What might help are hand gestures or musical instruments, like a recorder, a bassoon, a drum set, a guitar, a trombone or an accordion. But it would be too noisy for everyone, and they wouldn’t be able to hear one another. Or maybe hand clapping or gently tapping the table might work.
